From Paul Ongaro
IAPMO "Ask a Code Question" Online Help
As Gene Burch reiterated at the last REPHCC meeting the building codes have changed once again, as they always do, there are more of them, including the Green Supplement, and plumbers need to know about these changes including separate codes for cities, towns and counties. |
| But, fear not, help is available for questions regarding the building codes through IAPMO on their website. Code questions can be submitted at Ask a Code Question and a response will be forthcoming within 30 days. Paul Ongaro got a response in two weeks. “Recently our company had a dispute with a building inspector regarding the building code, says Ongaro. |
“After submitting my question online to IAPMO, which pertained to water heater ventilation, I received a response and a dialogue was created.” In the end, after a few more emails and a phone call - John Roth, Chairman of UPC Answers & Analysis Committee for IAPMO ruled in favor of Ongaro. “After I shared this information with the inspector – he also agreed with the explanation’, says Ongaro. This was an informal reply case. There is also a formal reply case available for contractors in the case of litigation. Again, the IAMPO Ask a Code Question page can be found here: http://www.iapmo.org/Pages/AskACodeQuestion.aspx. |

Recap of the PHCC-West Convention in Seattle
The Leadership Conference took place on the weekend of April 1 & 2 in Paso Robles. REPHCC Board Members Tom LeDuc and Ed O'Connell attended and LeDuc had this to say about the "takeaways" from the event. "PHCC National, who put on the event for state leadership, has an incredible amount of resources to help local chapters get new members.
![]() |
"PHCC also has programs for local members like mentoring - where an existing member shadows a new member to guide and help them with their PHCC experience as it relates to their business. They even have guidelines for writing minutes for chapter meetings to minimize liability." | ||
Tom LeDuc |
"This was a marvelous way to reconnect with what we have, as PHCC members, and I hope we have more participation from our local chapter next year."
