From Paul Ongaro
Trained and Educated Field Personnel Produce Good ROI
Training and educating field personnel in the plumbing and heating industry should not be looked upon as an added business expense. There is a huge upside to having well-informed employees, who understand the current codes and best industry practices. "When a plumber can help a homeowner by explaining the importance of proper installation of a water heater, boiler or furnace in regards to safety and perhaps long term energy savings - it's a win-win situation", says Paul Ongaro. "The customer is better served and in many cases your company will be more profitable selling additional services and upgraded products." |
| Without ongoing education the quality and practical know-how of your workforce will wane. "Codes and rules are constantly changing. This year is good example with new and updated supplements in the building codes", says Ongaro. "Another factor is liability. If your employees are not up to date on code or best practices and mistakes are made - most likely your company will be held liable for damages. |
We work with gas, water, heat and other factors that can be very dangerous when equipment is improperly installed. Training classes on codes and safety protect your customers and you." Training in green plumbing, which is also available through PHCC, has benefits that include water conservation. "When plumbers can assess a situation where the customer is wasting energy and money heating water and then make recommendations for energy efficient water heaters and circulating systems, for example - everybody wins. The customer can save money over time and your company can sell new equipment and install systems at a value-added profit. PHCC of the Redwood Empire has upcoming fall classes on codes and green plumbing. For more information on green plumbing classes click here. Now is the time to sign up and reward yourself with a good ROI in return for improving your company. |
