President's Message

Paul Ongaro

From Paul Ongaro

We Need More Involvement!

Paul Ongaro has become a man of numbers. He is a third generation PHCC member and a two-time president of the PHCC of the Redwood Empire. But, the numbers he would like to be associated with are the higher number of people who could become involved with PHCC. Those numbers would include members, who belong to PHCC, but do not participate at a high level and new members, who could greatly benefit from being PHCC members. "We have a core of members who are very involved - we just need more of them", says Ongaro, who was REPHCC President five years ago.

"Our biggest challenge is bringing in new members to PHCC", says Ongaro. "This organization has a lot of great benefits for members - I know, because I've been a member for nearly 20 years and I've benefited greatly. When you meet
with other members and start talking about a challenge you are having with your company you'll get 4 or 5 other members telling you about their experience with the same thing you're facing.

This is really helpful in problem solving and I think it's probably the most underrated benefit of PHCC."

Education and training are foundations that PHCC was built on and Ongaro sees that as a key to the growth of PHCC. "We have great training for employers and employees. We have how-to courses in business practices and classes in building codes, which are constantly changing. Being a member of PHCC is a great way to keep up on all the changing rules and regulations.”

"If more contractors were aware of the ways they could benefit from being a PHCC member we would have bigger numbers - that is our challenge."
